April 18, 2009 marks the funeral day of the Polish President along with his wife and other leaders of the country who died in a plane crash a week earlier. Pilot error was said to be the cause of the crash as the pilot attempted to land three times through the foggy atmosphere before finally crashing in.
Polish President Lech Kaczynski his wife Maria and the other country leaders were headed to Russia when this sad event happened. Sky news reported that a total of 96 people were killed because of the crash.
President Lech Kaczynski and the first lady’s state funeral was held in Krakow’s Wawel Cathedral which is a historic resting place of the country’s leaders.
