The Koala Bear : Massive Election Fraud?

The house of representatives had a hearing when a video surfaced which involves a person under a mask (which looks like a koala bear, hence the name) saying that a massive election fraud occured during the recently done Automated Elections 2010.

The “Koala Bear” said that he was a part of an operation which made a vastly large discrepancy with the election results, a manner that has to do with over 15 million votes. According to him it was a very simple process and the turn out of this election mainly goes in favor of the candidate who can offer the most money to him and all the others who are involved.

Their MO was simply to block the results from the PCOS machines to the central command center and have the modified results which they came up with. This is done by sending their own results 3 minutes ahead of the official PCOS turn outs.

He even dropped names of certain candidates who responded to their offer last year, at about the month of December 2009. Some of the names that he mentioned were Presidential bet Manny Villar and Vice-Presidential bet  Jejomar Binay. The “Koala Bear” offered the two 20 pesos per ballot, the one who buys them may decide not only on the position that he is running but also with other slots. He even said in a funny note that Villar tried to bargain with them, asking if they could make the price just 5 pesos each. “Kuripot pala si Villar” (It turns out, Villar is a cheapskate), said the “Koala Bear“. In the end, he said that Binay paid the most number of ballots which can be summed up to 1.7 Billion pesos and the political positions were doctored in favor of him for the Vice-Presidential seat and Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino for the Presidency.

Congress members did not take this seriously at all, except for House Speaker Prospero Nograles who will follow up on this issue.

Other members expressed their thoughts that this is not credible in anyway since there are no substantial evidence and the whistle blower even had his face concealed, which in their opinion, takes the believability  away instantly.

COMELEC chair Jose Melo challenged  the “Koala Bear” to show concrete evidence of this although he is confident that none will surface. “I am surprised it makes everybody jump. This is obviously something to derail the elections. But he has not even identified himself, he does not give specifics”, said the chair.

President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s political adviser Prospero Pichay is convinced that no cheating was excercised during the elections, “The people have spoken,” he said. “This country has to move on. We have a democratic process. We exercised it. It was very successful.”

The present administration is now focused on having a smooth transition process in the following weeks to come.

There are however members of the Liberal Party who wish to investigate Jejomar Binay. They said that the true winners should be proclaimed, considering that their Vice-Preseidential bet Mar Roxas is behind of about 800,00 votes.

I honestly think that this is NOT something to clamor on. The “Koala Bear” merely declared allegations  and no proof to back them up. This news only has got something good for those who lost the recently concluded elections and being “sore” at it for the matter. I’m just glad that the people who I rooted for and did not win are not riding along with this circus.

Until concrete evidence has surfaced, I suggest that we just stay put and go on with our lives for now.
