Leaving American Idol this last season, Simon Cowell is now focusing on the reality talent search that he created which is X Factor. With the same set-up as Britain’s Got Talent, where hopefuls would audition in front of a live audience as 3 , or sometimes 4(guest judge) would be deciding if they would give an almighty YES or a dreadful NO. Unlike Britain’s Got Talent, X Factor focuses on singing talents other than a variety of performances. So basically its like a combination of AI and BGT.
X Factor is still in the process of auditions and so far here are the ones that struck a chord in both the audience and the judges.
Matt Cardle – Having a very distinct voice that can be en-likened to vocalists of bands such as, Maroon 5 or the Script. His “quirky” presence on stage and a voice that is so easy to like, he was able to get “3 Yeses”
Mary Byrne -The next Susan Boyle? An employee for a supermarket, 50 year Mary has struggled with low self -esteem that stopped her from trying to follow her dreams. Now she finally has the courage to give it a shot. (Simon contradicted Katy Perry’s comment here, I wonder if they talked about it during the break)
Cher Lloyd- Easy on the eyes, Cher was able to pull off a song that is very difficult to sing live. Plus her stage presence is awesome. Can’t say the same for the pants though.
Dwayne Edgar – The ultimate crowd favorite. Has every quality of a perfect showman, jampacked with charisma and charms that did not fail to make the two female judges giggle. The only thing that he lacked was, according to Simon: the most important thing in the competition, a good singing voice. Despite this, he was still able to get “3 yeses” (Simon said No). Oh and they let him finish the entire song which was really cool.
Gerrup ya lil rocket!!
